Although very rewarding the world of affiliate marketing can also be very challenging. Some affiliates make a lot of sales overnight, leaving other affiliates to wonder just how they did it.
Affiliate marketing is indeed a good way to make extra money, or even a lot of money if you are proficient at it. If you are just starting out, you may not think there is any potential. Those that have a lot of experience however, have thousands of customers and prospects. Once an affiliate marketer has been in the business long enough, it’s not surprising to see him or her with 10 - 20,000 subscribers.
Almost all successful one’s are using a good autoresponder service to build a list of customers and prospects. An autoresponder can make business a lot easier, and enable you to contact all of your customers or potential customers with the click of a button. Having your own email list is indeed like having a license to print money on demand. You don’t spend hours or days sending out emails or answering questions anymore - autoresponders take care of all that and a lot more.
Anytime you have a new product or service that you wish to promote, all you have to do is write a review about it, add it to the broadcast page of your autoresponder, make a few adjustments, personalize it for your customers, then send it off to everyone on your list. It is even more powerful to stick that message in your autoresponder follow up series so everyone on your list will receive it on for example day 10 of their subscription - from now and forever.
Keep in mind that building a large list of subscribers takes a lot of time. However using an autoresponder will speed up the process, save you time, and help you manage your list. Once you get your first subscriber, you can rest assured that a lot more will follow. As we all know, a lot of subscribers on your customer list will lead to a lot of money with affiliate marketing. If you don’t have a list - you simply can’t make any money.
All across the Internet, there are many companies and businesses that offer these programs. All you have to do is contact the company and find out information about their program, then get started selling their products. You can make a commission with each sale, using your autoresponder to do over 50% of the work. Making money doesn’t get any easier than affiliate marketing and autoresponders.
If you already have a website and companies that you are an affiliate with, you should start building your customer opt in list as soon as possible. That means do NOT send traffic direct to your affiliate link. Instead send to your own squeeze page, capture their name and email address and then use your autoresponder to follow up with your offers. Once you have some subscribers on your list, you should drop them an email or a message every week or so. You can send them information, tips, or just a general newsletter. If you take the time to send them messages - you’ll keep a good relationship with them and they will keep coming back and hopefully buying from you again and again.

affiliate programs are rewarding if you get to convince people or sell a product but its hard . i have not so good luck with affiliate programs.

This is one of the first things I learned about when I started doing internet marketing and I could not agree with it more. A quality list can earn you $1 per subscriber per month if you do it right, and using a good autoresponder is the first step.

I feel this is a really important comment, as this is the way to build a relationship with your subscribers and develop trust.
Building your list can be time consuming but can pay dividends. Providng excellent content to this list will determine the amount of money you make from this list. Thing lng-term business not short-term advantage.

There is money to be made through affiliate marketing. Most people though don’t do very well at it. Someone else said lack of focus is a big reason. Trying to promote every product out there will get you nowhere fast.
I like the soft-sell approach better. Provide your visitors with a ton of great, free information and they’ll keep coming back. Stay in touch with them through your auto-responder and you’ll win them over as longterm customers who will buy many products from you.

Jonthan you’re right, many affiliates are leaving a lot of money on the table because they don’t have an autoresponder neither a website.
Having at least a squeeze page is crucial when it comes to building a list, everybody knows that the money is in the list.
If people buy from you and you don’t capture their names and e-mails then you won’t have the possibility to offer them other products. It is all about back-end where you can keep in touch with your subscribers and offer them products again and again.
All affiliates should have a webstie and autoresponder, these are the elements that can make the different between super affiliates and normal affiliates.

Of course you need a capture page to get visitors to your site to opt in to your autoresponder sequence.
The problem then is to drive traffic to you capture pages. This can be done by traditional methods such as search engine optimization and pay-per-click advertising. Newer methods also include blogging, placing ads at classified sites like craigslist.com, writing and submitting articles to article distribution sites like ezinearticles.com, creating videos for posting at youtube.com, participating in social sites like myspace.com, or a number of other techniques.

I think having an emial list is very important to achieve maximium profits and having an auto responder makes the whole process a lot easier. I agree totally with Ricky - The key ingredient in making lots of sales is effective advertisement. This will then bring you more traffic indeed. I spend hundreds of dollars using Adwords to get targeted traffic and it has paid off through and through.
This is a good article and topic for people that want to make money online. Autoresponders are important but using them effectively is even more so.
I was very lucky with the business I started. It included 400 pre written autoresponder letters. The hard part is getting the subscribers.
