As eBay is still as much a modern exchange place as a giant flea market, old comic books store belongs there as much as a car dealer. But there are three problems with selling these books on eBay.

There are three major problems that makes an old comic books eBay sale only moderately interesting alternative compared to other kinds of auctions.

1. The first is their price. While there are several “mythical” issues that can cost up to a few thousand dollars, they are so rare that there is only little chance that you will have one or two such old-but-expensive comic books a year.

Most comics are much cheaper, especially in case of old comics. While you can find them practically for free, it is very difficult to sell them for more than a few dollars.

2. A second problem is the fact that most of your customers will fall into one of two categories:

* broke

*fanatical collectors

The first ones won’t have enough money to buy while the others will probably have most of your offers at home. Old comic books are dangerous products to sell there is no telling what will make a seller and what won’t. Unless you’re an expert, better leave old comic books’ idea and look for something else instead.

3. However, even if you’re an expert, there is one thing you should be aware of there is a dangerous competitor for you and it is Amazon. They don’t deal only in new books tons of used old comic books are also sold there, often for a fraction of their price. Keep this in mind it will be very difficult to get clients to your store when they will have a chance to buy the same things at Amazon that would give them a lot wider choice than you will ever be able to offer.

In short, selling old comic books is a tough gig unless you are an expert with steady sources of supply.
