When you create the ‘About Me’ page on eBay, it allows you to tell your customers more about you, your products, and your business. What does your “About Me” page say about you? Does it give off a sense of professionalism, stability and trust? Do you even have an “About Me” page? This is one of the most important pages on your site and as hard as it is to believe, it is also one of the most under-utilized. This is where you can shine and show your humanity. eBay has gone through a lot of work to provide you with this resource. If you are not using it, read these tips below and start today to connect with your customers on a personal level.
To create the About Me page, log into eBay and go to the “my eBay” tab at the top of the page. Once there, select the “about me” tab. This will bring you to the About Me creation page. Simply click on the “create and edit your page” button to get started.
From there you can choose your template and begin to create your page through the available forms. Before you start to fill in the form, you should think about what you want to accomplish with your eBay business. Don’t just rush through filling out the form.

- Add another section and let people know about your business ethics, why they should trust you, what you do to make people want to to repeat business with you.
- Don’t forget to add a picture. Use a picture of you surrounded by the types of items you sell, or holding an item of value that is important to you
- Use the feedback section. As you buy and sell items on eBay, you will want to have your Feedback listed on your About Me page. Here you’ll select the number of Feedback listings to show on your page and eBay fills in your feedback automatically. Here, you can link to your own Web site (I highly recommend you get your own Web site once you are a seasoned seller), or provide some of your favorite links. Perhaps there’s a Web site that compliments the items you are selling in some way. Your customers will appreciate the fact that you are thinking of them by sending them to appropriate resources.
Once you are satisfied with your page, just hit the submit button and eBay automatically generates your About Me page. You now have a new marketing tool that will help promote your auctions. Potential buyers can learn about you and begin to develop a relationship. You can link the URL of this page on your My Space page or use it in your forum posts.
If you don’t have an “About Me” page listed in eBay, go now and start on immediately. Don’t worry if it isn’t perfect. Just get it uploaded. You can always edit it later. If you do have one, look it over critically from a buyer’s perspective. Would you do business with this person? Is there something you would like to know that isn’t listed here?
